Anime Banzai Convention
United States
Started in 2004, Anime Banzai is now Utah's largest Anime and Japanese Culture convention. We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping the community celebrate Japanese Culture in a fun, family friendly atmosphere.

We are happy to announce our 2016 convention, taking place Oct 21-23 at the Davis Convention Center in Layton, Utah, and hope you can attend! Our 2016 theme is Sword & Sorcery.

We have monthly activities all year long, open to all!…

Art Show Contest

The Art Show is for finished art and projects, whether they be fan-based or original. We accept both two and three dimensional artwork done in the themes of Anime, video games, SciFi, Fantasy, and variations thereof (see rules for full list). Fan art is allowed as long as it's not a swipe. Art entries range from 2D art styles: drawings, paintings, digital graphics, photography, etc.; to 3D sculptures, sewing/crochet, and various craft projects (nothing made using a pre-existing pattern is allowed).  Artists can choose to label their art For Sale or Not for Sale.  All art will be voted on by the convention attendees and eligible to win awards and prizes for Best 2-D, Best 3-D, Best Junior, and Best of Show. Artists aged 14 and under will be in the Junior category. Voting takes place all through Friday and Saturday, so entering Fri does give a slight advantage. You must have a convention badge. Entries are only accepted in person at the convention during art drop-off times. You must be able to pick-up your artwork on Sun between 2:30-3:30pm.

Please read ALL of the entry rules.…;

Charity Auction

The Art Show will be hosting a silent charity auction to raise money for breast cancer research at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Charity items are not part of the voting contest nor will the artist receive any money from sold pieces. ALL proceeds will go to the charity. Please email the Art Show if you would like to donate anything to the Charity Auction.

Art drop-off/pick-up times

Thursday - art drop-off: 8pm-9pm

Friday - art drop-off: 11am-1pm

Saturday - art drop-off: 11am-1pm

Sunday - artist pick-up: 2:30pm-3:30pm

Contest Rules
To submit, you must send your artwork, along with your full name, email, phone number and mailing address to If you have an artist name you'd rather be credited as just let us know.
Entries should be a minimum of 300 dpi (unless vectored) for best print quality. Larger is fine, but please keep in mind email size limits. You do not want to send a broken image. Vectored images are very appreciated.
Photoshop- or Illustrator-ready files (psd, tiff, ai, eps, pdf, etc.) with transparent backgrounds are a plus, and will be requested if your art is chosen. Please don't discard your work files - they're important!
Line-art only entries will be accepted, but should be cleaned up and inked; we may request a color version later.
Color entries MUST also have a line version included with the submission.
You are not required to use the Banzai color scheme of green and purple.
Mascots can be full-body or partial.
We have uses for both Realistic and Chibi versions, so you may submit either or both.
The mascots may be submitted singly or together. If you submit the mascots separately, you must submit both before the deadline.
You may enter more than one set of mascots, but you may only receive one prize.
Nothing copyrighted/trademarked can be a part of your image. Everything must be original or generic enough that it's not a specific item or character. NO LOGOS (ex the Banzai one of course).
Winners/Prize Information:
Multiple entries / artists will be chosen.
If your artwork is chosen, you will receive 2 free admissions into Anime Banzai 2017.

Hey I'm having trouble with your website. I've never been to Anime Benzai and I'm not sure if there are tickets you have to buy or?
Hi, yes you do need to buy a ticket. The pre-reg amount is $45 or it's $50 at the door (that's for all 3 days). The website is having a problem with the Registration page, hopefully they'll have it fixed soon. Until then you can email Banzai Information or Registration with any questions. If you use facebook we have our main page at or community group
